At Week 6, your baby is about the size of a lentil — and even though so much is happening inside, you might not look pregnant yet. Most women discover their pregnancy around Week 5 or 6, often after missing their period and feeling unusually tired, dizzy, or sleepy.
Hormonal fluctuations are in full swing and may cause intense mood swings. Being aware of this can help you take it easy on yourself and those around you.
Now that you’ve confirmed your pregnancy, it’s time to choose a reliable doctor for regular follow-ups. This is also a good time to start planning with your partner — make a list of small projects or goals to accomplish before the baby arrives.
It’s important to keep communication open with your spouse about your feelings and hopes for this new chapter. If possible, try to have him accompany you to each doctor’s appointment. His emotional support can be invaluable, especially when nerves or anxiety creep in during visits. Plus, having someone else hear the doctor’s advice ensures nothing gets missed.
One more note: from now until the fourth month, try to limit full sexual intercourse to once a week. And if you experience any pain or bleeding, pause and consult your doctor immediately.
