First Aid Fever Treatment- How to Handle Your Child's Fever?!

First thing a parent should do when he feels his child has got fever is arranging for a visit to his pedriatician and taking the nearest appointment possible, then start taking the following measures as a First- aid- action to help bring down the fever and save the child till he sees his doctor.

1- Call your child's pedriatician and arrange for the nearest appointment- for it is very important to know the reason behind the child's fever, perhaps he needs antibiotic.

2- Take the temperature, preferably using mercury thermometer.

3- If the temperature is 38 degree or less then you can give the child fever medication.

4- If the child's temperature is higher than 38 then you will needs to 1) take off most of his clothes and leave one light cotton layer and during summer time you may take this layer off as well. 2) You will need to resrt to bathing or sponging the child with lukewarm water to bring down this very high temperature before you give the child fever medication.
NOTE: Fever medication are not very much efficient with very high fever or fever higher than 38 degrees.

5- You can re-use a fever medication of the same type every 4:6 hours. In case fever starts rising between these intervals of time, you cannot use use the same fever medication of another one of the same type. You may need to use with it another tyoe of fever medication.

6- Once your child's temperature gets back to normal, you may put on his clothes again.

7- Never use alcohol or cold water in bathing or sponging.

- Ear or electronic thermometers.

- Forehead thermometers.

- Forehead Plastic Strip thermometers.

- Pacifier thermometer.
