Congratulations, you’re almost 10 weeks closer to the finish line and D day. A set of brand new symptoms will surface, each on its specified time, this weeks and the weeks to come, so stay calm and ready to take up the challenge and always think; it won’t be long before you reap the fruit of your long journey through pregnancy.
You’ve safely passed a great deal of challenges of pregnancy already, the remaining weeks may still carry a bunch of new ones, perhaps less challenging but still require tolerance and perseverance.
Compared to the months of nausea, worry over baby survival and avoidance of movement, constipation, skin problems, tiredness and stretch marks, symptoms of the 30th week, are still easy to deal with, of you ate more fibres, drank much water to keep the skin hydrated, applied the anti- stretch marks cream the doctor prescribed for you. Also taking the time to rest is not a hard task.
Try to deal with this phase of your pregnancy, but totally shifting your attention elsewhere. Arrange for a new look after delivery, do shopping, even online if you can’t move much or the doctor has, for some reason, to have more rest. But first have essential postpartum arrangements set up or delegate someone do them, to enjoy a free mind that’s assured everything has already been taken care of. Prepare all the baby stuff that he will need at least in the first month, even a good number of diapers. Have the room set up and arrange for your post-delivery stay. Also go and visit the hospital where you plan to delivery your baby. As for the hospital’s own checklist for your labor bag and have it ready. Also I highly advise that you even get done with plans for the baby shower, gifts list, baby’s go-out bag (filled with all essential tools, even the diapers, wet wipes and anti- rash cream) You will feel much relieved and in control doing so.
Then take all the remaining weeks to pamper yourself, take care of your health, plan for your new look, do some nice personal shopping that will alleviate a great deal of the coming phase blues and boredom. Also plan to go for a spa before or after delivery. Take care of your skin, make some light Yoga and watch movies. Rest a lot, and try to accustom yourself to have short naps throughout the day, for you will need to do that a lot after your deliver your little one.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to look lousy neither on the delivery day or after delivery. You can start looking your best actually. Have plans for your hospital room set up, put a lot of nice stuff in your hospital bag, such as your mp3 player, a book, and some of the stuff you like having around. Plan to have your hair and nails groomed on the day of delivery. Also buy a pair of nice cotton nightgowns to wear there.
Also have a plan for at least 5 outfits that will suit you on the first 4 or 5 weeks after delivery, till your belly gets back to its normal, when you shed off all the extra weight, lose the excessive water your body has been retaining for months, and your uterus shrinks to its normal size and position. Bottom line, whatever tasks you can do now, when you have the time, do it, to leave yourself more room to enjoy the baby arrival and save yourself unwanted gloominess and blues later on.
Watch your weight and set a goal for your weight limits reaching the finish line. Eat more fresh veggies and fruits. Take small light meals that are full of fibres and water. Also do drink much water. This will keep your body fit and hydrated, which will reflect on your skin. And try to break a number of widespread stereotype, that the delivery day is hellish, that stretch marks are a must and are stubborn, also that excessive weight gain is inevitable. All this might not happen, you might not develop stretch marks at all, and even if you did, they don’t have to be marked heavily on your skin, that can take the form of very fine, light- coloured lines that will fade after delivery. Also you can easily regain your normal weight and size as early as 5 or 6 weeks after delivery if not before. Work on your perception to change the course of your experience.. You can do it!
As for your baby’s development, he’s now at the size of a large cabbage, weighing around 1.4 KG and is 15.7 inches long.
He will be growing rapidly the coming weeks which will cause the amniotic fluid to recess but not before the coming week or two, when it will witness a relative peak. In later weeks, the growing size of the baby will leave little room for the water- don’t worry about that, it’s normal and your doctor should know how to handle that perfectly well.
The baby’s eyesight at the moment is developing, he can detect and thus follow the source of any strong lighting around, but eyesight will continue to be week, even after delivery and will carry on developing till it reaches normal human standard that is 20/20.
As for the size it’s expected to double in size the coming ten weeks or, to reach about 3+ Kg on delivery day.
